The 1873 Teago Covered Bridge, also called the South Pomfret Covered Bridge. The original bridge was bypassed and abandoned in 1965. In 1973, the one-hundred-foot bridge located over the Green River in Garfield, in the town of Hyde Park, Windsor County, Vermont, was purchased and moved.
Purchased by a housing developer, he had the bridge divided into two spans, one of which was placed in the present location of the Teago Bridge, at the entrance to a proposed housing development. The second portion of the Town truss system was moved to another housing project in West Windsor and became known as the Twigg-Smith Bridge. A severe wind storm blew it down in 2002, and it was replaced with a concrete bridge. Meanwhile, the other span remained in South Pomfret. In recent years, the property beyond the Teago Bridge was purchased, and a lovely home was built on the property. The owners have continued to maintain the bridge in fine condition.
Total length: 39 feet
Of the over 500 covered bridges that were built in the state of Vermont, as of 2019, only 104 remain.
